This monthly dashboard of workforce & economic trends serves as an at-a-glance look at the labor market and economic situation in Michigan. This monthly report takes up data elements that span a breadth of Michigan’s economy, and that are intended to give users a general understanding of the dynamic nature of the current economic times.
This is a Microsoft Excel based report, designed to be tailored to a user’s geographical needs. On the right-hand side, a number of pick-boxes allow users to tailor certain elements of the report to the labor market areas that are most meaningful for their purposes. The report will fit on a single sheet of paper, front and back, for easy mobility.
The first page lends its emphasis to Michigan’s workforce, highlighting:
· Michigan’s Household employment and unemployment data (LAUS), customizable by labor market area.
· Michigan’s Nonfarm Wage & Salary Employment (CES), depicting employment by industry, and customizable by labor market area.
· A look at the gap between Labor Supply and Labor Demand in Michigan, combining LMISI data with online job vacancies tabulated by The Conference Board’s Help-Wanted Online program.
The second page offers both targeted and broad measures of the state and regional economy, showcasing a variety of data series that track economic performance over time. Of particular note, the Consumer Price Index measure is customizable based on a user’s location preference.
Updates of the LMI Dashboard report should be anticipated near the end of each month.
